Been a while, so i might be out of practice doing this. Just bear with me. ;)
First up we watched three of the DC Universe animated shorts, all very good, but i'd really love to see a series of The Specter, it would totally work, and be awesome. Note, for these i couldn't find trailers for just the short, so i'm putting the trailer for the main movie or what i can find, just so you know:
Green Arrow
The more 'typical' superhero short of the bunch, with more a focus on action than the other two, but very well done.
Jonah Hex
EC comics/Tales from the crypt feeling, in other words, awesome. Haven't seen the live action movie, but heard it wasn't nearly as good as this.
The Specter
Awesome kind of grindhouse, LA noir, comic movie. Awesome to see different styles used in animation and such.
Then the movies started.
A Bucket of Blood
Kind of funny to see the people who later got more famous, and a funny retro horror. The beatnicks were hilarious too.
Eyes Without a Face
Wow, i had heard it was a highly regarded and impressive film, but had no idea it would go as far as it did for that year. Great direction too, although the music choice was odd, to say the least, but they are French, so i just go with it. ;)
Lust for a Vampire
Not one of Hammer's best, and seemed to drag a lot, with odd pacing, was funny to see the random nudity that just "happens", kind of miss that in modern movies. What? ;) Funny thing, i'm so used to vampires dying violently, exploding, turning into goo, etc. when staked that i was kind of surprised how mild it was here. Also, damn that song, ugh.

Final Fantasy XIV Online
So I've been playing a good deal of Final Fantasy XIV Online, since the collectors edition got a head start last week, and once i got past the quite steep learning curve, i've been having a good time. The game is beyond beautiful, graphics and animations, but i'd expect nothing less from Square to be honest. The controls are very similar to the single player Final Fantasy games, and once i plugged in an Xbox 360 controller, it played way better in my opinion, although it seem most Japanese players play with only a keyboard (yikes!). I'm curious how the Playstation 3 version will be next year when it gets released, more options are always good. Along those lines, man does this game polarize people, either people love it or hate it, so reviews are pretty much useless, especially ones that don't spend enough time to get the flow of it. It's a slower, more deliberate game than others, button mashing is pointless and actually not a good practice as you can queue up actions. That is where some people are complaining of lag, it's not, they just already selected an attack and are waiting for it to shoot off.

Classes are something else people are seeming to be confused by, you can be any one you like, just equip the weapon, and you can level up those skills and pretty much use any skill with any class. Very nice, want to fight with swords and cast spells? Go right ahead. You can also wear whatever gear you want, although some isn't "best" for what main class you want to be. You can also equip any level of item, but won't get the best stats until you are the 'optimal' rank it says. Worth noting is that you have a separate "physical rank" that levels no mater what class you are using, disciples of war, magic, hand or land, you get ranks. Chopping trees, get xp to increase your botanist rank and physical. Weaving things, get weaver ranks and physical ranks. etc, etc. I tend to do lots of different things, so my physical rank is around 22 right now, but my highest job rank is like 14, weaver and botanist.
Which leads me to my few complaints. The story line quests are triggered by what rank you are in a job, not physical. Get one at creation, then 10, then 15, 20, etc (so i've read). These are fun and interesting, with interesting story and such. The rest of time it's levequests, eight of regional, eight of local, every 36 hours or so, reset at a set time server side, not when you do them. I do realize that most quests in most games are just kill X rats, prettied up, but it's nice to have that motivation, i'm not much of a grinder really. So i'm hoping they add something to either cut that time, or add more quests. Seeing as there is a tab for "quests 0/16" in the journal, but no one seems to have found who gives them out, if anyone yet. Also worth noting is that there are no "!" above people who give quests. You kind of have to pay attention, read, and explore, which i kind of like.

Menraku Ramen Miso
Also eaten recently was Menraku Ramen Miso, and i have to say, so far my favorite, hands down. Also one with more pictures than normal.
Same as usual, package without wrapping.
Peel back lid, take out two packages...
sprinkle powder base and dried veggies out on noodles. Pour boiling water and let sit for three minutes.
Squeeze out miso paste on soup (hard to explain what miso is like, but i love it)...
stir and eat. Nom, nom, nom. You can tell how the miso spreads out and flavors it, very good.
Hands down so far, my favorite. I could live off this, well, mostly, but you get the idea. The noodles are good, and plentiful, a good amount of dried veggies, and the soup and miso are a great flavor.
I've probably said it before, but i'm really seeing the difference between what we have as ramen and what you can get here. There is more than noodles and a small package of dry powder, in fact more noodles too. Granted, these are generally around $2 each here, probably less there, while our cheap ramen is like a pack of six or more for that price. That said, while the story of a student getting scurvy by only eating ramen is a myth, most of our ramen has had most nutrients fried out and the powder doesn't add much, so seeing ones like this with more actual "stuff" is good to see, although the sodium is probably a bit high. Oh well, got to live like a rock star, heh. ;)

Two packages inside, one with veggies and powder, the other one with a liquid.
Powder added, boiling water added after that, wait three minutes.
Squeeze liquid (concentrated soy sauce flavor i'm thinking), stir and eat. Nom, nom, nom.
I am loving the styrofoam bowls, even though probably not as green of me to, it's nice not having to worry about too hot of hands or burnt fingers. (probably have to explain here, i have one of those water boiling appliances that heats up quick and hot. It does get hot, boiling actually.) I do love this one, pretty much one of my top ones. Yeah, i'm not the most eloquent right now, or ever really, but oh well.

Bowl Noodles Rich & Savory, Chicken
This is another instant noodle review, because i live the life of a rock star, well not really, but i figured i'd do more before i eat them all. This is one of Bowl Noodles Rich and Savory, Chicken Flavor, got this at Econofoods here in town, not at United Noodles like most of them. Basically i was just getting other things and figured i'd pick up some different types to try.
My judgement is that it's pretty average, or below. Nothing thrilling flavor wise, kind of like cheap chicken soup or something, and the noodles were very bland and a bit too soft. At least that was my feeling, but i've been eating firmer ones, so there is that. It wasn't horrible, just not too thrilling or something i'd go out of my way to eat again, unless i put some sriracha on it, which i seem to be doing for everything lately, but i'd like to keep the original flavor for these.
Unopened, yep, that "soup booster" is between the plastic and the package proper.
All but the booster go in with water, microwave for 3 minutes...
Add booster and stir when done, then eat.

Food trip
Was craving Calpico, and decided to go over to United Noodle in Minneapolis. It's a good distance, close to 40 miles from here, but worth it. I only hoped that this time they had some, unlike last time i went where they only had a couple bottles left. As you can tell from the photo above, they did.
If only getting there had been so easy. I got lost due to construction and a simple wrong turn that led to lots of one way streets. Ended up getting onto this road that snaked along the river, thought i was never going to get off it, and kept not knowing where the hell i was. After a long, long while, i saw the street name that the place is on. So i quickly went on it, even though i wasn't sure if i was on the right side of the river or not. Several times the road ended at a T and i had to choose left or right, but in the end chose right. Got there in the end.
Was quite busy too, more than i've seen it before, not sure if it's because of time of day or what though. Surprised they rearranged the store too, i kept looking for the Japanese section, and eventually sound it, and purchased much. I picked up some C.C. Lemon, which is pretty famous for their Simpson's commercials in Japan. It's actually really good too. Nicely light carbonation, and very lemony, without being too lemony. Wish i had bought more, only got two bottles, one of which is hidden behind the Oi Ocha, which is also good. Basically a nice unsweetened green tea from Japan. So many beverages, but also a ton of food, which you can see pictures of on my flickr. Basically a crap ton of ramen, several different flavors, snacks like mochi and Pocky, and tons of instant curry which i end up craving over rice i make in my Zojirushi rice cooker.
Thrilling story eh? Yep. The more things change the more they stay the same. Been doing a lot of this kind of shopping and such to distract myself from how much i've been missing and thinking of Jodi, not sure what kicked off this time. Could be that's it National Suicide Prevention Week, that i've been watching movies that reminded me of her, or that i've got so much on my mind that just won't go away and she was the only one who seemed to honestly understand and not mock or judge me for talking about them. Heck, even therapists have tended to do not really listen. Any way, i miss my best friend and more, one of kind she was, and am just trying to keep it from getting worse. If that's possible.
The bunnies are awesome as usual, shedding like crazy though. As usual.

Movie Night - August 4th, 2010
Unorthodox movie night tonight with it being just me and Jason, two movies, two cats and conversation.

Visually interesting movie, not bad, not really where my head was at though, so i may not have appreciated it as much as i could have. My favorite parts were the character, costume and prop design. I'm guessing this was a labor of love kind of thing.
The Stuff
"One lick is never enough", heh. Kind of a messed up classic in my mind, horrible special effects and more, but just so odd you've got to see it at least once. ;) So many actors from Law and Order too, the early seasons.

Zoo trip
Anyway, never having been there before, and wanting to take a more scenic route, i ended up getting lost. Lots of backtracking, thinking "where the hell am i??", and pulling over checking a map (yeah, yeah, i have a pocket gps that was out of charge, and driving solo isn't an easy way to get un-lost). Eventually got to a place where i recognized the road names, and got there. It was a gorgeous day though, and i wasn't minding driving around back roads enjoying it, so there is that.
Got in, and was surprised how busy it was there, figured a wednesday while other things were going on, the state fair, school starting soon, etc. that it would be less busy, but it was. Lots of groups of kids, and even more parents with kids. One quick gripe, there was a family with a freaking wagon, several strollers, and more, going through the more narrow passages, blocking areas, backing into people. Just made me notice more people who only think of themselves. Also lost count of how many kids ran into me while i was standing there, them not looking while running around, parents not giving a crap. I get it, the kids are over stimulated, but the parents should know better. Not to mention the ones tapping on the glass, when signs clearly said not to, parents un caring. Yeah, if it's not clear, the trip didn't endure me to people, that's for sure.
That guy up there in the picture is a red panda, rubbing his head on that branch. One of my favorite things there. Just too cute, even if sleep seemed it's favorite activity, heh. The otters were also one of my faves, as growing up there were some that lived near the river behind my parents house. So many awesome animals, a lot were sleepy, but it was pretty hot in the tropics area, and when i was there it was about that time most sleep anyway. Even though, i did take a lot of photos, filled almost two 16gb memory cards, about 900 pictures. Went though last night and picked about 138 of them and posted them to my flickr. I'm thinking about going to zoos more, at least trying to hit more. I used to go to the Milwaukee Zoo quite a bit when i lived more down there, and even made a few trips when i lived in LaCrosse. Which reminds me, i should go down to the Bristol Renaissance Faire sometime. It's been close to 20 years since i've been to it, and i prefer it's set up, more shade, less a big empty space, knew plenty of people who worked it, etc. I say this, and it's been years since i've even been to the Minnesota one, 2001 or so i think. Long story.
On an unrelated note, saw something that i wish i could have gotten a picture of on the way back. Nearing Hastings, a man was walking down the highway in tight short shorts, built like the hulk, and tanned to a very dark brown. It was so completely random and took me off guard that really wish i had a picture of it.

Movie Night - August 28th, 2010
Movie Night, with lot's of Japanese things that rocked.
Highschool of the Dead, Episodes 1-4
Highschool students and zombie outbreak, with lots of fan service during the first episode but that tapers off thankfully. Not that i mind it, but it seemed out of the feeling of the show. Like it more than i was expecting to, and it kept getting better too as the episodes went on. Interestingly, the show aired on tv in Japan, and according to Sankaku Complex (site nsfw, possibly), the censoring was pretty heavy and at times odd, "massacred by censors" post, and "now censored everywhere" article. Also seems to be censored with black and white areas both, so there's that to keep in mind. DvD is unedited though.
Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl
Yes, again. Mostly because some hadn't seen it, and also because it's awesome. ;)

Also by the maker of the above. Less batshit insane, although it did have some moments, but a more complete movie with actual plot and more character development. I really, really want him to do a kaiju movie now, even though there was a good bit of that here, i can just imagine how fun it would be. ;)

Movie Night - August 14th, 2010
A very diverse movie night, that's for sure, which ended up with one of my new favorite movies.

This and the next two was mostly watched for their son, being things he could watch, if you were wondering. Not typically things we would pick, although Justice League is pretty good too.
Victorious, Tori the Zombie
Was described as this generations Saved by the Bell, which fits. ;)
(I have no idea why this video is backwards, or such poor quality, but its all i could find to give you an idea of what it is.)
Justice League, Secret Origins (1-3)
I do like this show, but prefer the later episodes and seasons, they hit their stride after a while.

That Mitchell and Webb Look, Season 4 Episode 5
Not much to say about it, some hits, some misses, still pretty funny. Funny reference to a Doctor Who episode. Couldn't find a youtube for this episode, but you get the idea.
She's Out of My League
Not a reference to the Justice League, sadly. No clue how this got so high rated, pretty meh. Also, i must point out how i find her friend much better looking and more interesting as a character too. Wondering how they all aren't in jail for all they do on planes and airports, but i guess it's all for the plot.

Movie Night for July 31st wrap up time, and off we go!
Godzilla Raids Again
An older, from 1955, Godzilla film. Interesting, but also kind of funny for it's special effects, puppet-like and sped up, different than later films. All i kept thinking about the name though is raiding like in World of Warcraft.
That Mitchell and Web Look, Series 4, episode 3
Besides some odd sketches that would have probably made sense if we were from there, it was pretty dam funny. As the show usually is. ;)
Sherlock, A Study in Pink
I was quite wary about this, as pretty much every Sherlock Holmes pales to the Jeremy Brett version, but the lead did a pretty good job of channeling him in the ways that matter. His voice and inflections were damn close, and there were good call actions he did that Jeremy Brett did, partly because those were illustrations in the book, but also fit the character. A variation of the story A Study in Scarlet, but with obvious changes. Some aspects of the show i am a bit not such a fan of, the fast cut chase of the cab, just didn't seem to fit for me. One thing i started not liking but grew to like, even though it got less used as the episode went on, was the floating text. Not too sure i like the change of Watson's character though, there just seems to be something missing in him to me. Maybe he'll be more to my liking later, who knows. Gah, i could go on, me and Sherlock, lol.

Funny thing about this one, i netflixed this a while ago, and accidentally got the original. This version came the other day but i just hadn't got around to watching it, so it's good then that i didn't. Once it got going, it just kept going more and more. Wow.

Movie Night July 10th, 2010
Movie night again, can't think of something witty to type here, sorry. Although i had thought about photographing the Poison cover band and the Schitzofrenic one too, i decided my body was too sore and it would be good to hang out with friends. Sick Girl kind of made me second guess that decision (kidding, but it was bad)
First up was Gamera: Revenge of Iris
Holy crap this was awesome, and brutal, and probably kind of what it would be like if giant monsters fought in our cities.
Followed by Daybreakers.
Interesting premise, kind of slow though, and it was pretty.
Last up, Sick Girl
Sigh, i guess "if there is nothing nice to say, then don't say anything." "..." Wait! I thought of something! It gave Stephen Geoffreys (Evil Ed from Fright Night) work! That isn't gay porn! (wow, did not know that...)

Movie Night - July 4th, 2010
Odd night for a movie night, but that was due to a convention that most everyone else was at. Odd also for the things we watched. Unrelated, not too pleased that it seems my air conditioning went out sometime during the day. Ugh. Not going to sleep well tonight.
Doctor Who, Pyramids of Mars

First of a Trilogy of Gamera, quite enjoyable, but then i do enjoy Gamera. Him being really neat and all.

I've fallen, and i can't get up.
Has been a while since i've posted anything other than movie nights, kind of have my reasons, but we'll see if i actually talk about those.
Just cleaned the downstairs bathroom and most of the hall leading to it. Sounds easy right? Something you may have noticed is that when i do post pictures of my house, they are 'clean'. I never take pictures of the 'before', and with good reason. While a lot of the time, it's just clutter, or dozens of books stacked everywhere, it's still a huge mess. I live in chaos, it's my constant companion. If i get too used to something, in comes chaos to smack me upside the head and shakes it all up. Can chaos be a constant? Would that be ordered chaos? I have no idea. Just feels right. The funny thing, in the middle of the chaos are these islands of order that drives me batty if it's not that way. Books that are on shelves are alphabetical by author, and subject in specific areas, although i ran out of shelf space a while ago. Five Billy Bookcases with the height extension units so they go almost to the ceiling, and glass doors to stop the bunnies from eating them, and i could easily see needing another two to four, and still not have enough room for all of them. There are pictures of them in the link up there, so yeah. Also the dvds and video-games, sections ordered out with movies and tv shows in different zones, alphabetical by title. Doesn't get me in heavy anxiety if they are out of sorts, but i tend to feel the "need" to put it 'right'. So, the rest of the house is a mess, along with stuff that needs to be fixed for various reasons (the chaos seeping into it and going "hey! i need to be fixed!"). You don't even want to know about the garage. Only three people have seen it in the last few years, and one is dead. It's only gotten worse, and worse. Whenever i try to take care of that, something prevents it from happening.
Every time i start though today, i just can't seem to keep going. There is a heavy feeling of gloom that i can't just shake off lately. Didn't help that when i went out to get bunn food and cleaning supplies that so many people i ran into were just rubbing me the wrong way. Then as i'm coming down a road near the house i see a cat dead on the road. It's a road that people shouldn't be going over 25mph, and the cat was on the edge. There is no reason a car should have hit it. If you think "so what, it's just a cat" consider that the houses on the road almost all have kids ten and under, and if you can't stop for a cat, you won't be able to stop for one of them if they run out. Which i've seen almost happen. Several times. I get pissed at seeing animals being hit too (besides the cat, i've seen several rabbits and squirrels hit every time i go out) because i know it's not usually a case of "i couldn't avoid it safely" and more a case of "who cares" or even the more maddening redneck "ten points!" (i've known people like this personally).
Besides that, there is so much else that just seems to be going wrong and getting to me. I'm not even talking about the oil in the gulf, or other world events, but things more close to me, people i know and care about. Nothing that seems life threatening, this time, but it's had me thinking about things, past, present, future. I know i'm an odd duck, have odd behaviors, beliefs, experiences, etc., so i know i'll never really find a place i truly fit in. I'm becoming more and more okay with that. Part of the problem though is i've also been reflecting on the past, people, relationships, etc. On reflection, seems a lot of takers in my life, some also gave, but more "what can he do for me", sort of thing. Not just 'things', but feelings, love, time, etc. If that makes sense. Once that is done, they were done with me. Not going to get into specifics, but looking back on talks and such we had, there was one who i thought had genuine affection for me, cared, all that, didn't really much, if at all. There was truly nothing i wouldn't have done for her, even if most of the time we were just friends. It was the times we were more that i guess i was kidding myself about, heck, even maybe the friendship itself. I don't know. I'll never really know though, will i? Eh, if i say more, it will be even more obvious who i'm talking about, but for some reason i want (no need to though) to keep this vague. I keep replaying the last time we were together in my mind, over, and over, and looking at it from different angles. Each time, i see something i might have missed, or done differently, something i could have said, or said wrong. But then i also think, none of it really mattered. It was a long time coming, and as much as i thought i meant or affected, in the end, i meant as much as that fly that is buzzing around the room.
I seem to be able to understand a lot of different things, but people and their motivations aren't one of them. That's for sure.
Maybe i'll go back to trying to clean again. I'll see how that goes.

Movie Night - June 26th, 2010
Movie night for tonight was a bit unplanned, but still enjoyable. Mostly tv shows though, so maybe i should call it TV Night. ;)
Doctor Who, The Big Bang
I'm guessing i'm the odd man out, didn't really think it was so good. The "wacky" cartoon music just didn't feel like it fit, and i'm tired of "Oh noes! The doctor is going to die!" or "the universe/time/whatever is going to end", we know he's going to be fine, come up with a new tension builder. Had some moments i liked, but first part was better, with better twists and suspense. Basically "Status Quo is God", when it could have been so much more. Thankfully i was wrong about it being a case of "Space Jesus", although maybe it was really. Rant over. ;)
Pulse, Pilot
So much potential, so damn slow and boring. Strange happenings in a hospital in England, so slow, and not in a good thoughtful way. Pilot only, so maybe a series would be enjoyable, but not sure i'd tune in for a second episode.
Party Down, Constance Carmell Wedding.
Love this show, it's awesome, never a bad episode. So we watched several of them. ;) This one featuring Jane Lynch who left for Glee, which she also rocks on. Love her. Side note, all the episodes of Party Down are free to watch same day as they air on Netflix. Good that, season finale, bad that.
The Gates, Pilot
Fun, sort of a supernatural Dallas or Dark Shadows (redundant there?), vampires, werewolves and witches oh my! Slightly camp, didn't seem to take itself too seriously without being goofy, and Rhona Mitra, swoon. ;) Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled, and goes on to be even more awesome.
Party Down, Joel Munt's Big Deal Party
Loved this episode, sci-fi geeks getting revenge and one of the best lines ever.
Party Down, Not on Your Wife Opening Night
Anyone who's ever done anything in theater can relate to this episode. ;) Like a more lighthearted Slings and Arrows, which everyone should also watch, it's awesome.

Movie Night - June 19th, 2010
Movies and more, and except for the first thing, all very fun. On to the post.
Doctor Who, The Pandorica Opens
While the Van Gogh episode was my favorite, this comes a close second. It felt epic, reminded me of old school Who, and while i was guessing some things, surprised me with others and has me curious as to where they will go from here. Hopefully not a sitcom type reset, that would be disappointing, to say the least.
Infestation
Much better than i was expecting with how it was described. Gotta love the Japanese title "Big Bugs Panic". Good movie night movie, that's for sure.
Zombies of Mass Destruction
Not perfect, but very fun. The ending was "odd" to say the least, but from what it looks like, there is a sequel in development that might help explain that. Nice political commentary too, and a lot of nice throwbacks to 80s zombie movies.
Detroit Metal City
Oh my god i loved, loved this movie. Japanese movie based on a manga, but also an animation, that is just bizarre. I'm so going to try and find those now, and also buy this. Good times. Also has a part by Gene Simmons from KISS, which seems appropriate.

Movie Night June 5, 2010
Movie night again, just the two of us, but that's fine as we tend to go longer and watch more a variety. This night was all over the map, in a good way. (imdb is not loading for me for some reason, so i'm linking ot other places, sorry)
Doctor Who, Vincent and the Doctor.
Wow. This is actually my favorite of the new doctor episodes. Besides the fact that the Universe seems to be trying to tell me something, fourth thing i watched this week with suicide as a subject, and me not even going out of my way to find those things. Amy is awesome as usual, my favorite companion, not just because she's cute as a button, but not a pushover and not one dimensional either. Loved, loved, loved the cinematography too, the colors reflected the paintings and were awesome.
Astro Boy.
My oh my. No offense to the animators who worked on it, but wow. The voices that just didn't fit, the story that drug, the odd choices, just not a fan. Also, the very bit at the end, that should have been the movie, would have been more fun i bet.
St. Trinian's.
Awesome. Damn awesome. Looking, it seems to be sixth in a series, with a sequel, going to have to check that out. It was bizarre, fun, with awesome actors, too many to list really. Perfect Saturday night movie, fun, fun, fun.
Adam.
Very good drama, with the main character having aspergers, and not portrayed in a bad way. Also didn't get stereotypical and the ending was good in my eyes. Not sure what else to say about it, but it's a watch for sure. Plus, it's got Amy Irving, who i adore.
Black Dynamite.
Heh, brilliant, at least for a Saturday night movie. Some people love it, some hate it, i loved it. Laughed my ass off and would probably quote it tons, where people would get sick of it, if i could remember more lines.

Gamer
Standard action, but loved Michael C. Hall in it, great character. Best part of the movie really.
Ninja Assassin
Some great moments, but a LOT of unneeded stuff that really broke the flow of it.
Oneechanbara: The Movie
So disappointed in this. Who hears bikini zombie slayer and thinks to go serious with it?? Oh well. The game is mindless fun, hack and slash, over the top. I'm going to include trailers for both so you can see what i mean.

Open the door, sit in the seat, turn the key and go!
It's been a while since i posted here, probably many different reasons. Haven't had movie night in a while, due to where we have it has moved, and they are settling in and such. Been having a bad depression too, came on a couple weeks ago and only recently started to fade. That was annoying, i did the "escape into warcraft thing" too. I pretty much know where this depression came from, it's only a couple weeks until the two year anniversary of Jodi taking her life, and the dreams (nightmares really) have been coming fast and furious. Hard to stop thinking about when every night they keep reminding me. She's just been on my mind a lot lately, so there's that. I know, how is this different than other times? I know, but i can't really say. So yeah. Been missing Zack bunny, but thankfully Kitty is more herself now, still seems to miss him, but is acting more herself. That's a good thing.
So at the beginning of last week things started. Started how i hear you not asking. Well, i got invited to a group shoot in Stillwater at the Lowell Inn, honeymoon suite. Of course i jumped at the chance, better than having to drive all day for the same type of opportunity, even if those ones down by Racine are pretty awesome. Just nice to have one closer. Then things start going wrong, ugh. Nothing earth shattering or tat bad, just one thing on top of another. Get car washed, windshield cracks about a foot up it, probably from heat then cold water, the previous smaller crack didn't help i bet. Health issues (that i'm not going to go into here) pop up the two days before, big time, worse than before. Ugh. My clothes and shoes have shrunk (that has to be it, right? heh). Unknown charges on my bank card decided to push it over the limit, then the $35 each charge starts up. Great timing too as all the things i subscribed to charge right then. Ugh. Printer out of ink, had a hard time finding cartridge for it, needed to print model releases. More little things that just kept annoying the hell out of me. I was sure i was going to get there and be arrested for some unknown reason (hey, panic attacks are fun! and logical!).
Anyway, i get there, and it takes a while for them to hear me knocking, of course i worry i'm at the wrong room. I'm not, which is good. There were about five or six (hard to keep track) other photographers, several models (of which i got six photographed), and tight confines. Side note here, I'm not too impressed with the Lowell Inn, i've stayed in much nicer for similar prices, (i forget the name, but that place in Chicago i took Emiko and Kevin to, that place was nice, for example (even though no one reading this will probably remember it, heh)). Very tight spaces with lights, bags, people, and need for there to be no clutter behind models. Got really, really hot in there, even with air conditioning going. I also almost forgot to eat before it, but grabbed a bite before, just got really hungry near 11pm and had to motor before i passed out. That part sucked, but the rest didn't. All the models were awesome, and i'd love to work with them again if i ever get the chance. Another side note, i really, really need to learn how to direct models, and tell them what i want them to do (not even mentioning knowing myself what i'd like them to pose like and such). Telling bunnies and other animals things, not so successful. "Hey Jerry, go over there. No! Come back!" heh. Events are the same type of thing, just have to go with the flow, and try and position yourself and catch what you want. So yeah (i'm saying that a lot, i know), it was an awesome shoot, with many amazing models from the area. Here is one of my favorite shots i got of one of my favorite models of the shoot (she's lovely, friendly, makes you feel at ease, etc. Although they all rocked). She is wearing the cuffs one of the guys who set up the event had, she was the only one to wear them though, and she looks great in them. Almost all the models had lingerie, some of it vintage from a shop in Minneapolis. (Speaking of which, if i had more time and knew models sizes, i could have gotten some of Sarah's awesome stuff from her shop in Portland, she seems to have a lot of great stuff.)
So yeah (again?? heh), here she is. Some mild retouching, (damn dust spots on the sensor, ugh) but mostly as shot. I need to go through them all and do it all, but this one rocks my socks off.

Sweet Crunchy Keyboard
I've been sick for the past week or so, stomach thing from hell, as the Simpson's put it, "Giving birth to a food baby." Good times. No, not really, mostly resting, bathroom, repeat. Like several times an hour. Wondering what i ate that did this, although i'm hearing a lot of people talking about getting "something" not fun like this. To top it off, allergies from hell as everything is blooming, and if i open the windows, my allergies kick in big time. Ugh.
So i've been sitting in front of the computer at the kitchen counter when i've not been doing the above. That is where the title comes in, i spilled soda on my laptop and now has crunchy keys. I tried to catch it really fast, but wow i wasn't so fast at all, ugh. Thankfully they all work, but i have some crunchy keys on the right side. Not as bad as the time they didn't work at all, not easy to type passwords when you can't actually type them in. heh. This is another pain though, one laptop has a dead graphics card, so i pulled out my older alienware which i mainly play MMOs on and now that is randomly disconnecting me from WoW. I'd use my newest powerful desktop, but for some stupid reason it's now randomly entering powersave mode. Ugh. This not counting the iBook i want to get the logic board fixed, but it's pretty damn old now, seven years, and it's mostly because i have a couple things i'd like to have. Yes, i do have a LOT of computers, heh.
One of the few things i have been doing though, besides the above, is playing World of Warcraft again. since i'm sitting there, i figured "why not?". I've also tried new things. I decided to brave the random dungeon finder. A little history here, i have had horrible, horrible luck with joining people in dungeons and raids. I don't belong to a guild, so it's all random people. I'm not the greatest player, so my dps isn't the best, and my healing could use work. Normally i just do pvp battlegrounds at level 80, and get whatever honor gear i could. I also would hop into lower level dungeons and see how far i could get solo, and i don't skip mobs either, i go for a full clear but not the zerg method. I know, i suck, but it's how i play. So feeling like crap, i decided to hop on to a random non-heroic. Ended up at Halls of Lightning with me as a healer. I had pretty decent gear, with a gear score of around 4k (pvp gear though). We didn't make it past the third mob group. Tank went down in three hits, everything aggroed me, and i died. This happened twice and i got booted. It was my worst fear. I know, it's just a game, and these people don't know me. I just hate that feeling of letting people down. I almost decided to quit WoW for good. I felt like physical crap, and on top of that emotional crap too.
I decided to give it one more try, this time not as healer role but dps in my shadow spec. It was heroic Utguard (forgot which one) Heroic difficulty. What happened? We blazed through, i was burning down mobs, healed in a pinch when the main healer accidentally aggroed an add (this must make no sense to those who don't play, lol) and kept everyone else up while the Death Knight kept it on him. It was my first good run in many, many years, before Burning Crusade actually. I had a blast. I've been running every random i can get into, with as many goes as i can. Even though running as dps means a 10-20 minute wait, i don't mind. It's nothing compared to the hours wait i had before the random dungeon finder for any lower level one, and all told i've had only a handful of bad runs out of tons of good. The bad included people with huge egos, people posting Recount scores (when no one is hurt and mobs drop) complaining, and the odd afk leach. Mostly good though, quiet most of the time, but one last night was hilarious. Overgeard players just going for their frost badges, flirting back and forth.
So anyway, as you can see below, i've gotten enough badges to get three pieces of T9, and achievements up the wazzo. So what's the point of all this? I don't know, except that i have a new favorite activity in WoW, random dungeons. I just wish i could go to the lower ones, never have stepped foot in the Burning Crusade or earlier ones, and raids too, that would be fun. I actually can't wait until Cataclysm to start over another character and see the new lands and old dungeons i missed over the years. Not what i expected after the game being out five years.
On bunny news, Kitty is being more herself, misses Zack like me, but is acting more like she used to. She even did a bunny dance when i played "chase the bunny" in the kitchen. That made me happy, haven't seen that in a while, even when Zack was around, she could probably tell he was sick. Now if the vet can figure out what is up with her skin, although where the fur has come out is coming in better and nicer looking. Who knows, doesn't seem to be mites or what we feared, so that's good.
So i've been sitting in front of the computer at the kitchen counter when i've not been doing the above. That is where the title comes in, i spilled soda on my laptop and now has crunchy keys. I tried to catch it really fast, but wow i wasn't so fast at all, ugh. Thankfully they all work, but i have some crunchy keys on the right side. Not as bad as the time they didn't work at all, not easy to type passwords when you can't actually type them in. heh. This is another pain though, one laptop has a dead graphics card, so i pulled out my older alienware which i mainly play MMOs on and now that is randomly disconnecting me from WoW. I'd use my newest powerful desktop, but for some stupid reason it's now randomly entering powersave mode. Ugh. This not counting the iBook i want to get the logic board fixed, but it's pretty damn old now, seven years, and it's mostly because i have a couple things i'd like to have. Yes, i do have a LOT of computers, heh.
One of the few things i have been doing though, besides the above, is playing World of Warcraft again. since i'm sitting there, i figured "why not?". I've also tried new things. I decided to brave the random dungeon finder. A little history here, i have had horrible, horrible luck with joining people in dungeons and raids. I don't belong to a guild, so it's all random people. I'm not the greatest player, so my dps isn't the best, and my healing could use work. Normally i just do pvp battlegrounds at level 80, and get whatever honor gear i could. I also would hop into lower level dungeons and see how far i could get solo, and i don't skip mobs either, i go for a full clear but not the zerg method. I know, i suck, but it's how i play. So feeling like crap, i decided to hop on to a random non-heroic. Ended up at Halls of Lightning with me as a healer. I had pretty decent gear, with a gear score of around 4k (pvp gear though). We didn't make it past the third mob group. Tank went down in three hits, everything aggroed me, and i died. This happened twice and i got booted. It was my worst fear. I know, it's just a game, and these people don't know me. I just hate that feeling of letting people down. I almost decided to quit WoW for good.
